HP Factors
The Factors That Contribute to Aging
You live in a miraculous machine. The trillions of cells that make up your body do amazing things every second you are alive. We don’t really know exactly why we age. Modern science now tells us that humans should be able to live over three hundred years, and maybe with more advances in genetics and bioengineering we may see this some day. But for now, we are looking at an average life expectancy of around seventy-nine years.
The primary cause of aging is living long enough to have it happen, so if you feel your body changing, you can be grateful that you've lived long enough to have the experience! There is a long list of factors that we know of that contribute to aging, including:
- Inflammation
- Oxidative Stress
- Gravity
- Genetics
- Stress
- Diet
- Environmental Toxins
- Sedentary Lifestyle
- Mental Attitude
HP Therapeutic Partnership
Therapeutic Partnership
We believe in a therapeutic partnership between doctor and patient, in which both parties participate in the nurturance of health and well-being. We understand that sometimes people need help in discovering the underlying conditions that their symptoms represent, and education and support in making the lifestyle changes that may be necessary to promote healing.
Our mission is to provide individualized, natural family health care in a professional and nurturing environment.
HP Doctors
Our Doctors
Dr. Godman started Partners in Health Care, Naturally in 1999, after graduating from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. She went on to study Masters-level programs in Gynecology, Chinese Medicine and individualized medicine in Canada and Europe and obtained a Fellowship in Endocrinology. Her extensive, on-going studies—combined with years of experience in her busy medical practice—have given her a unique ability to diagnose and understand the most complex health concerns. She specializes in hormone and endocrine issues and chronic, debilitating diseases, with a focus on the mind-body connection that underlies all illness.
“When I started Partners in Health Care, Naturally I envisioned a facility of dedicated professionals who literally partner with patients on their healing journey. Our goal is to give patients hope and help them understand that they don’t have to live with the degenerative diseases they’ve been diagnosed with.”
Dr. Mendoza comes from a varied medical background. In 1973, she began her medical career as the youngest licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of Wyoming. After graduating high school she joined the U.S. Navy, where she became the first female In-FLIGHT Search and Rescue (wet-crewman) corpsman. She expanded her career by attending Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman (SFIDC), a highly competitive and stressful field, operating as the sole medical and dental provider for military and civilian personnel around the world on isolated islands and warships at sea.
She eventually found Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, which opened new challenges, and graduated from SCNM in July 2009. She owned and operated a very successful clinic in Mesa with another SCNM graduate, where all aspects of medicine, both mainstream and naturopathic, were incorporated into patient care. In addition to naturopathic primary care, she specializes in neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's, autism, and Alzheimer's; autoimmune disorders, asthma and women's health.
Dr. Martha Odegaard, Licensed Acupuncturist, Oriental Medical Doctor, has studied holistic medicine since the 1970’s while still an undergraduate at the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, CA. She began her career to be a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) in 1979 and shortly after began studying Chinese medicine in Chinatown, San Francisco. She then spent three years studying Shiatsu massage in Tokyo, Japan, followed with a degree in Acupuncture and Herbology from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA and an Acupuncture License in the state of California in 1987. She then completed an internship in Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China, and completed her Oriental Medicine Doctor degree (OMD) from South Baylor University in Garden Grove, CA in 1988. She opened her practice in La Jolla, CA in 1987 and has been the owner, director and chief medical provider of her clinic since then. She also studied functional medicine/nutrition with Dr. Scott Vrzal, DC and others, and has incorporated nutrition with Western and Chinese herbs in her practice. She is Arizona and California Acupuncture Licensed and is a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Dr. Morgan Osborn studied naturopathic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine concurrently in Toronto, Canada. Her own personal health journey was a large motivating factor in seeking more holistic ways of healing and has helped to inform her special interest in treating complex chronic imbalances. She also frequently treats digestive, mental-emotional health and hormonal health, including fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum, but ultimately seeks to address the entire person, mind-body-spirit, and enjoys working with people of all ages.
Timothy Schwaiger, ND, MA, graduated with Dr. Godman in 1999 from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, and completed a two-year residency there in Family Medicine. He has a master of arts degree from Webster University in Health Care Management.
Dr. Schwaiger served as Chief Medical Director and Executive Director of Clinical Operations at Bastyr University until July 2025 and is a Professor of Naturopathic Medicine. He uses naturopathic modalities as well as an integrative approach to family care, medication management, and adjunctive cancer support.
